10. Business Development

In the BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT [10] dashboard you can either enter an auction/bidding process to buy a compound of another pharma company or you can start an auction to sell one of your projects (if you have marked the project for “SALE” in the DISCOVERY & RESEARCH [04] or CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT [05] project-pipeline view).

(In the above example you can sell your project Ommxan (see right window) or enter bidding process for a compound Otarel (in Clin Phase III, Immunology) offered by the company YZZIL Bio.)

When selling one of your projects (SELL OWN SUBSTANCE / PROJECT Window) you can adjust the total license amount you ask for when starting the auction and you can also adjust the royalty percentage (percentage of sales) you expect after product launch.

Then click on “ENTER SELLING AUCTION” to start your selling auction.

If you want to enter the bidding process for a competitor project then click in the left window (“BUY SUBSTANCE/PRODUCT“) on “ENTER THE BIDDING PROCESS” to enter the auction to buy a compound from a competitor.

The Auction

The Auction has 3 main windows (example here bidding for a project):

The window on the right shows the details of the project that is on sale.

E.g. you see the company logo of the selling company, the project name, the Therapeutic Areas (TA), the compound type and on bottom some contractual details regarding the ask of the seller. In the example above the seller is asking for an upfront payment of 20% of the complete sum and after successful Phase III the seller expects the rest (80%) of the agreed price for the compound.

Some details are not shown immediately at auction start and are only marked with “???”.

To simulate due diligence activities these details will be only shown at certain timepoints during the auction/bidding process. The different timepoints are shown as star-symbols  in the BIDDING TIMER window which includes also a countdown from 100 to 0. When reaching 0 the auction ends, and the winner of the auction is the company that has the highest bid in line with the seller. If there is more than only one highest bidder the seller is deciding on the winner by randomly choosing the winner.

In the AUCTION window (left) you can set your bid by clicking in the bid grid in your company’s column. You will see the amount that you offer to pay in total for the license of the project or compound. You can see that you are currently the highest bidder in the negotiations if your bar is green with the same amount as the seller (who comes from top down). If you currently have a deal you see in addition a blinking crown symbol at the top of your column. (If your company is the seller you can go up and down with your ask amount by clicking on your company’s bidding column).

If you win the auction or find a buyer, the project will be moved to your project pipeline (or move to the buyers’ project pipeline).
